Sustainable Food Security through Land Regeneration in a Changing Climate

The 3rd Beating Famine Conference will focus on the Sahel, and will leverage FMNR and EverGreening success to inspire a continental movement

About this Event

World Vision, the World Agroforestry Centre and the Global EverGreening Alliance are honoured to invite you to the third global ‘Beating Famine’ conference to be convened in Bamako, Mali, from 25th February to 1st March 2019.

Following the successful Nairobi (2012) and Lilongwe (2015) editions, the first Beating Famine conference to be held in the Sahel will celebrate the region’s outstanding re-greening successes, achieved through pioneering work with Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration. Conference delegates will be inspired to build on these to co-develop the trailblazing pathways that will dramatically transform Africa’s drylands and help them reach their full potential.

Beating Famine Sahel will amplify global support for movements such as the African Forest & Landscapes Restoration Initiative (AFR100), Bonn Challenge and other restoration movements. Key supporters will share why they believe the time for large-scale regreening has come. And the field’s most prominent practitioners will share their experience, their insights and their optimism.

The Sahel’s rich history of FMNR and EverGreening practices is an example for the world. Come share your experiences and learn from others!
