Sustainable Food Security through Land Regeneration in a Changing Climate

Beating Famine is a series of conferences addressing land degradation and the root environmental causes of poverty and famine.

The first Beating Famine was in Kenya in 2012. It  and launched a five year FMNR (Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration) in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania

The second Beating Famine was in Malawi in 2015. It targeted Southern Africa and saw over 500 participants attending.

The third in the series of Beating Famine Conferences is being planned for the Sahel. The focus has shifted from building awareness of FMNR (Farmer-Managed Natural Regeneration) and EverGreen Agriculture practices, to taking these proven successes to massive scale. Invited participants from across the Sahel, along with donor agencies and representatives of governments, universities, CBO’s and civil society will come together to share, learn, plan and accelerate the regreening movement.

Beating Famine Sahel will take place from February 26-28 in Bamako, Mali. Registration details will be released shortly.
