Abstract

Sub-Saharan Africa has the fastest growing and youngest population in the world. Youth unemployment is a pressing issue for national governments and policy makers. This event will be exploring agribusiness models based on youth entrepreneurship, engaging in providing in products and services to local farmers expanding their practice of agroforestry for land and soil regeneration, fodder, fuel wood, and/or high-value tree products. Some of these approaches are based on franchise models that can enable large numbers of youth businesses to be developed and sustained through high-quality management systems and central sourcing of capital.
